VW T3 16" Under wraps having just been painted in-house at CoastVW - it now waits its turn for rebuild

This VW T3 Westfalia came into the CoastVW workshop for a full body restoration. These photos show where the lower middle side panel had corroded on the floor/sill seam which meant outer sill, floor and lower mid panel had to be replaced, all interior frame work is correctly repaired before the outer panels are replaced, we aim for it to last!

Off for interior units and upholstery before returning to us for final fit. Customer has chosen to use Dubteriors and we cant wait to see what it looks like on its return......and then we can go on a photo shoot :)

The rebuild on this VW T3 Syncro is going well post its full body restoration. The pop top roof is now back on along with wheel arch flare kit, smoked light lenses, rear wheel carrier, single light front grill.

And so the rebuild starts....Ash has been busy installing the heater box back into this VW T3 Syncro. Its always worth replacing the heater motor whilst the dash is out :)

This VW T3 Reimo popped into the CoastVW workshop as it was experiencing issues with the twin carb set up. We replaced all the fuel lines, synchronised the carbs and traced the running issue to a split servo take off pipe.

Here are the newly made up roof repair sections to fit to the VW T3 Syncro we blogged about recently which had a heavily corroded roof. This photo shows the repair sections having a trial fitting before being cut in.

These photo's show the fitment of the outer sill and floor section which were badly corroded on this Volkswagen T3 16" Syncro. Once repairs are complete we will be fitting the mid panel.

Rebuild continues for this VW T3 Early Caravelle. Its had a custom pale yellow paint which was mixed especially for this build. This image shows the front end build coming along nicely.

Metal work is all complete now on this VW T3 16" Syncro. All repaired areas are now in epoxy primer ready for the next stage of its transformation. It will be heading off to paint shortly with its super straight body shell :)

This VW T3 14" Syncro has come into the CoastVW workshop for a light body restoration. Unfortunately when we removed the high top it revealed a rather severe corrosion issue underneath. The corrosion has pretty much eaten through both sides of the gutter. We are now going to source a replacement donor roof. Fortunately the rest of the van is in great condition.

Fresh back from paint is this Volkswagen T3 caravelle which has just been repainted in a soft yellow having had a metalwork restoration with us.

At the CoastVW workshop we have been busy waxing the underside of this VW T3 Syncro. We use an amazing product from Bilt Hambler Laboratories which is the business and lasts for up to 5 years (except in high wear areas). We thoroughly recommend protecting your investment with this specialist application.

Ash has been building and fitting this 4 runner roof rack onto this Volkswagen T3 Syncro which is nearing completion.

The custom rear panel has now been fitted into this VW T3 16" Syncro. Middle panel has also been trial fitted and is now ready for welding in place.

This 1976 Volkswagen Baywindow is back in the CoastVW workshop. Ash is busy fitting all the glass along with new seals, next job on the list will be building up the front doors before fitting the new pop top roof.

We finished the body restoration on this Volkswagen Splitscreen earlier in the year and it is now back with us for some engine work and leisure battery install.

We have made a bit of progress on the latest VW T3 Syncro restoration that is in:
1. Bottom of b-pillar has been cut back to expose the inner frame which shows light surface corrosion but no rot
2. Front A-pillar on nearside had some accident damage which was rather crudely filled.....new panel will be fitted here
3. Short sill panel has been removed to expose the inner frame which is often corroded away but this one looks good
4. Mid panel has had a lot of filler applied over large dent which will pull out to straighten the panel

Jon and Ash have got a days drive ahead of them taking this Volkswagen T3 Syncro up to Bromsgrove for its interior trimming. This project is nearer the end now and is looking fabulous.

Our next restoration is in - VW T3 16” Syncro. Boys have had a busy few days stripping down the shell prior to beginning the metal work.

Second picture shows after we have primed and used our seam sealer to get back the factory seams, Once painted we will also seal from the inside and then apply wax.

Ouch!......Not want you want to find underneath your VW T3 Auto Sleeper high top roof. Water has gotten under the skin and has corroded all 4 corners. We also had to remove a previous repair section which had been riveted on (??) causing water to sit on top of the corroded area....CoastVW to the rescue ;)

And so the rebuild continues......our customer has some chosen custom LED rear light pods for the rear from our friends in the Landrover world.

Wow! Just back from the paint shop after a full body restoration with us in this Volkswagen T3 14" Syncro which has been painted in a very bright Lamborghini orange, striking!

Volkswagen T3 Syncro Metalwork Restoration - This picture shows the sill on a VW T3 - a common area of corrosion. Many restorers cut out the middle section but we remove the entire sill and replace the inner and outer sections.

We have known this customer for many years, he is one of our favorites ;)The van entered our workshop as a slammed multivan and leaves as a 'Syncro style 2WD' with peloquin diff, AT tyres, truck mirrors, wheel arch flares and winch we reckon Mike and his boys will soon be getting up to some wild camping fun. Proper photo shoot and perhaps even some video footage on its next return to us......nobody wanted to get it muddy yet :)

An old family favorite is back in the shop......this South African VW T3 belonged to us many years ago, before selling to a customer in London who then came back to us in 2015 for a full body restoration. Its back in this week for MOT and its annual service......looking resplendent!

At Coast VW today we are fitting a replacement chassis cross member to this VW Splitscreen Campervan as the previous one had crumbled away!

Just back from the painters yesterday is this Volkswagen T25 2WD which we have done a full body restoration on. It is an LLE specific colour - Oily Blue - just need the panels now!
We try to get our seams as factory as possible - and this up close shot shows we are doing pretty good :)

New front panel on this VW Splitscreen - 1965 - is now fully in place and looking lovely. This camper has had to have a complete new front end fitted due to accident damage.

James is busy cutting out the floor from this 1965 Volkswagen Splitscreen which is in the midst of its full body restoration with us..... Chassis and top hats are in remarkably good condition but the inner sills need replacing completely on both sides.

Rebuild nearly there on this VW T25 16" Syncro. These 16" Mefro wheels have been powder coated in silver finish and had BFG AT tyres fitted, We finally managed to source this LHD middle sliding window which is shown having its seal fitted, and final picture is fitting of the front grill.

Front of the VW Splitscreen is removed and a new wolfsberg west front panel and screen pillars are ready to fit, just have to sort out all of the inner parts first.

This VW Splitscreen had accident damage to the front, various areas of corrosion and lots of filler so it made sense to have the complete shell media blasted, then a quick etch prime to prevent any flush rusting, giving us a nice clean canvas to commence bodywork repairs. Top image also shows front panel now removed.

Re-build going well on the VW T25 16" Syncro. We are in the final stages of fitting all of the Bromsgrove interior back in and the red vinyll looks great against the white bodywork. The last few days the Coast VW team has been busy wiring in the leisure battery system, running hot water, 240v invertor (powerful enough to boil a kettle and run a toaster!).

Another VW camper has arrived and awaits its full body restoration. This 1965 VW Splitscreen window bus was purchased from the states several years ago, it has an original wooden Devon interior fitted. The current owners have decided to put their pride and joy back on the road and it will be wheeled into dirty corner in the next week or two hopefully.......where the metal work will commence!

This Volkswagen T25 Westfalia California a really nice bus. Unfortunately the sound proofing foam in the air boxes caused some real damage, corrosion in the seams meant the best way to deal with it has been removal of the air box, closing panel and the rear lower panel.
Get rid of those foams as they soak up water and will rot your pride and joy !

So you my remember that the Coast VW team recently completed a restoration 'big brown' just before Christmas...well the new owners have gone off to the French Alps for the winter....fun times!

This VW Baywindow Campervan - whiich is a UK RHD model - is having its underside prepared with 2 coats of zinc primer before being sealed.

Looking rather nice! We recently fitted a Subaru engine in this South African VW T25 Syncro, which is wearing its new coat of the original factory red colour after its full body restoration. We specialise in quality restorations of VW T25 Syncros and 2WD VW Transporters.

Front tub arch all fitted on this Volkswagen T2 Baywindow. New main floor also fitted, this photo also shows the inner sill which is all ready for its new side panel to be fitted.

This VW T25 14" Syncro has returned to the Coast VW workshop again from Norfolk for its annual service, we fitted an Mtdi engine to it back in 2010. Its a two man job this week as Pete is doing the mechanicals whilst Ashley fabricates another set of our unique rock sliders smile emoticon

This Volkswagen T25 16" Syncro has been imported from Italy, direct to us for its full body restoration and Subaru engine conversion. Vehicle has been stripped down and body panel repairs have commenced, starting with a new front lower panel, small side panel repair and lots of shot blasting!

So new main floor area now in place in this Volkswagen T2 Baywindow and so restoration work has moved around to the cab floor area. The drivers seat base/wheel tub was too corroded to repair so has been cut away and the new panel being welding in this week.....we've also fabricated our own floor panel section from flat sheet steel as the replacement panel was coming up a bit short

Restoration complete on this Volkswagen T25 Campervan, auto sleeper conversion.
It came to Coast VW with the normal seam issues and also had some bad rusting around the windows and the front panel. It was original and very solid but looked its age....a great basis for a light restoration. Owner decided to retain all the original interior fittings, so once we had repaired the bodywork this campervan had a full repaint to include the roof, it was fitted back up with all new seals and most of original trim was retained - the final touch was sourcing some new decals to finish her off - finally ..
An update on the VW Baywindow restoration: the Coast VW team have now cut away most of the rusty underside.....now to start rebuilding/repairing

The Coast VW Team has started stripping out this 16" Syncro camper which was shipped in from Italy for a full body restoration and an engine conversion to a Subaru H6!

This VW T25 Camper has just come back from paint yesterday, with doors and tailgate delivered to the workshop today. What we need right now is 3 more team CoastVW members and a hundred more hours in each day....busy times! Happy weekend guys :) :) :)

This 1976 Volkswagen Baywindow Campervan has come to Coast VW for a full body restoration. We have fitted it to the chassis tilter so we can cut out the floors from the underside - they were far too patchy to repair so we are replacing both floor halves......such a noisy job!

This VW T25 Westfalia Camper suffered and over heating issue on the motorway. The coolant mixed in with the oil which we traced back to broken head studs which was caused by using the wrong anti freeze!!! This is what we drained out of the engine sump.....which is basically lots of oil and water mixed together.
The cure - unfortunately its going to need a new engine as this one's trashed!

Sweet new wheels for this VW T5 Transporter......they went for 17" Diewe Trina's in a nero finish with an all season tyre.....it was previously running on 18" wheels and the owners cant believe how much the ride has improved now its on 17's......(having also previously cracked an alloy due to all the pot holes in our Devon lanes!!) #vwt5alloywheels #coastvw#diewetrina

All finished and heading home to London Town......This van has so much history for the Coast VW team as we purchased it ourselves 7 years ago when we were running Syncrospares, it was our daily work truck and school run vehicle before selling to a new family in Cornwall. A couple of years later the customer wanted to sell and we already had a buyer waiting.....a full restoration has been on the cards for some time...and voila....restoration complete. Rebuild going well on this VW T25 Syncro High Top Campervan which was vinyl wrapped last week after its full body restoration, going for a beefy black and brown look with smoked indications and satin black wheels and trim......will be for sale shortly!
