Happy Monday! Sorry for the lack of blog posts over the previous few months......it's been a little hectic in the CoastVW workshop over the summer months but we have worked on some really exciting projects and are bursting at the seams with current projects so watching this space and we will start filling you in! :)

The engine and gearbox have been removed from this VW T3 Syncro so that we could remove the fuel tank and replace al the fuel lines and breathers, and check if there was any corrosion behind the tank. Tank void was steam cleaned and then two coats of wax were applied to protect the tank void area - a job well worth doing!

We've just finished fitting these LED headlamps to this Volkswagen T3 16" Syncro which is currently in the CoastVW workshop…..looking good!

This early air cooled Volkswagen T3 is currently with us undergoing a Subaru engine conversion after its original engine caught fire.

This VW Baywindow is in for various job including fitting replacement fuel tank and breathers. If you have an air cooled Baywindow this is a job well worth doing as they can be prone to catching on fire...especially if your fuel fill hose also has a split in it like this one did.

This VW T3 Syncro is nealy ready to return home.....one of the last jobs on the list was the window tinting of the rear double glazed windows. The darker films really look splendid with the mono colour scheme :)

Last week we removed a full campervan interior from a Volkswagen T25 14" Syncro…..it been repainted and is currently being installed. Will reveal the transformation in the next few days :)

And so the rebuild continues on this VW T3 Campervan. The Coast VW team have undertaken the entire metalwork restoration and it was the first paint job through our new paintbooth over Christmas. This photo shows Ash fitting up the doors....including new door seals. Watch this space, such an exciting stage :)

A little light metal work surgery on this 16 inch Volkswagen Doka. The front jacking point had corroded and taken the front edge of the sill with it so we removed the outer section on the front outrigger to allow correct repairs inside the B pillar. We will now fabricate a new sill section along with the supporting frame inside the sill, before making the outrigger section and stitching it all back together, when finished it will be an invisible repair.

This VW T3 Reimo popped into the CoastVW workshop as it was experiencing issues with the twin carb set up. We replaced all the fuel lines, synchronised the carbs and traced the running issue to a split servo take off pipe.

Here are the newly made up roof repair sections to fit to the VW T3 Syncro we blogged about recently which had a heavily corroded roof. This photo shows the repair sections having a trial fitting before being cut in.

We have been busy at the Coastvw workshop reinstating the seat boxes on this 16" Syncro, they had been removed previously in order to fit after market seats and now original seats will be going back in once repaint has been done.

We've got an exciting year in front of us at CoastVW as we have just secured a new workshop premises...so much bigger then our current location, so we've got a busy few months getting it in tip top condition...we'll keep you updated on the progress

2.1 Engine for sale - We have a customer who is selling his 2.1 block with a 1.9 manifold and carb, relatively low miles since being reconditioned, low compression on no.3. Owner is selling complete, get in touch if you are interested :)

Rebuild continues for this VW T3 Early Caravelle. Its had a custom pale yellow paint which was mixed especially for this build. This image shows the front end build coming along nicely.

Fresh back from paint is this Volkswagen T3 caravelle which has just been repainted in a soft yellow having had a metalwork restoration with us.

At the CoastVW workshop we have been busy waxing the underside of this VW T3 Syncro. We use an amazing product from Bilt Hambler Laboratories which is the business and lasts for up to 5 years (except in high wear areas). We thoroughly recommend protecting your investment with this specialist application.

Our customer purchased this VW Baywindow whilst travelling in Australia, they transported it back to the UK and it has been in storage for many years.....we need to re-commission it mechanically all ready for the summer season.

Nathan has been busy fabricating this new rear panel for a VW T3 Syncro after we couldn't get anything to remotely fit.......might start a production line!!!

We have cut out the accident damage out of this Volkswagen T3 from the front a-pillar and removed the upper front panel in order to assess the inner frame. We then removed a section of inner frame and fabricated a new repair section, we are now in the process of making up a new panel.

All the boys happen to be busy working on engines today. Ross is fabricating a new engine loom for this Subaru engine conversion, Ash is repairing this 1.6 air-cooled engine as it had pulled 3 cylinder head studs and Pete is finishing of the installation of this 1.9 (customer supplied) diesel engine.

Now is a great time of year to get the underside of your precious Volkswagen Campervan wax oiled to prevent the winter road salts from corroding your chassis. We use the very best quality waxes to ensure the maximum corrosion resistance for the future.

At CoastVW we are fitting a 1.9 AAZ engine into this VW T3 Westfalia, it was an early petrol so we've had to install battery tray and engine bar mounting plates to rear valance. Next job is to fit the front to back stainless steel coolant pipes

Camping pod has arrived at CoastVW ready to fit into a Volkswagen T3 14" Syncro, we have also fitted a full width rock'n'roll bed which folds flat (no engine plinth!)

Just arrived at CoastVW workshop are these fibre optic lights which are going to be fitted in the dark headlining to give a starry night effect - we are all looking forward to seeing the effect.

This Subaru engine has just arrived, it is a low mileage EJ25 2.5 engine which will be going into a VW T3 Syncro.

This Volkswagen T3 LLE comes into us every year for service and MOT. Today Pete has been removing the front upper/outer wheel arch skin which has rusted through into the prescribed seat belt mounting area – so just cutting it all out to make a good repair for MOT.

Second picture shows after we have primed and used our seam sealer to get back the factory seams, Once painted we will also seal from the inside and then apply wax.

All systems go in the CoastVW workshop today. This lovely '66 split is a USA import, at the back of the shot is a VW T3 Syncro Tristar (a rare beast in RHD), and the rebuild continues on this lovely orange T3 Syncro.....

Regular servicing of your classic Volkswagen is highly recommended......engines work much better when there is not a mouse nest inside your air filter!

This 1.9 Turbo diesel is all ready to fit into VW T3 Campervan. It will be a huge improvement over the campers previous stock 1.6JX engine. We fit hybrid turbos and inter-coolers in order to deliver usable/reliable power.

This Volkswagen Baywindow has had an underside fire approx 4 years ago which was put out using a powder based fire extinguisher. unfortunately this powder is highly corrosive and has rusted through the lower front panels on this otherwise rust free van. Gutting :(

At the CoastVW workshop today we are removing this early 1.9 engine which has terminal water jacket gasket failure, new engine to be fitted in due course.

Just finishing off building this 1600 air cooled motor for a Volkswagen Baywindow. Next job is to modify the support plate for the center mount twin choke carburetor and then it will be all ready to fit!

1976 Volkswagen Bay Window Campervan – Right Hand Drive
Selling on behalf of a customer is this two berth campervan. It is a solid example with the previous owners having invested a lot of money in her over the past couple of years to get her mechanically sound.
Right hand drive and tin top (a desirable feature as there are so few around anymore). It has a full width rock’n’roll bed and all the seats have been upholstered. It seats six passengers with three point harness belts. It also has a leisure battery system fitted. Twin sliding doors.
Comes with Fiamma bike rack.

Volkswagen T3 Syncro Metalwork Restoration - This picture shows the sill on a VW T3 - a common area of corrosion. Many restorers cut out the middle section but we remove the entire sill and replace the inner and outer sections.

We are removing the engine from this 1970 Volkswagen Baywindow. It has been running a 1776cc engine which is going to be replaced with a stock 1600cc......going back to its roots! New engine in the process of being built up.

This VW T3 Syncro Doka has come to us to have a custom frame fabricated to support this very large expedition roof tent, along with front and rear Hannibal awnings. Frame all made up and now off to the powder coaters.

We have known this customer for many years, he is one of our favorites ;)The van entered our workshop as a slammed multivan and leaves as a 'Syncro style 2WD' with peloquin diff, AT tyres, truck mirrors, wheel arch flares and winch we reckon Mike and his boys will soon be getting up to some wild camping fun. Proper photo shoot and perhaps even some video footage on its next return to us......nobody wanted to get it muddy yet :)

The CoastVW workshop is busy as ever - this 14" VW Syncro is in from Jersey having a mechanical overhaul (engine and gearbox rebuild), the late Baywindow campervan has just been prepped ready for its topcoat, the 1966 Splitscreen just tucked around the corner has just had its metal work restoration completed and the in-house VW T25 Syncro panel van might one day get its full camper conversion. Busy times :)

Another van has returned to its family....this VW T25 Campervan came to us for a Subaru engine conversion and a full camping interior installation. Our customer chose this lovely wooden interior from Vanwurks, along with a snazzy set of captain seats from Newton Commercial in a tan leather finish. The engine was converted to a 2L naturally aspirated water cooled engine (having previously been a 2L air cooled).

This VW T25 Syncro Doka is in for a couple of jobs. It is currently fitted with an Audi 5 cylinder engine which we are going to fabricate a complete exhaust system for, and we are also currently removing the gearbox in preparation for replacing the clutch.

At Coast VW today we are fitting a replacement chassis cross member to this VW Splitscreen Campervan as the previous one had crumbled away!

Just back from the painters yesterday is this Volkswagen T25 2WD which we have done a full body restoration on. It is an LLE specific colour - Oily Blue - just need the panels now!
We try to get our seams as factory as possible - and this up close shot shows we are doing pretty good :)

5 speed gearbox, double glazed windows, new roof canvas, MOT til February. Has had a small fortune spent on it under its current ownership with a VW specialist in Cornwall including a new pop top roof canvas and fridge. We have all the supporting paperwork.

New front panel on this VW Splitscreen - 1965 - is now fully in place and looking lovely. This camper has had to have a complete new front end fitted due to accident damage.

We are part way through installing a 2.5 Subaru engine into this VW T25 16" Syncro, most of the coolant plumbing is complete, wiring loom is in place and we'll be fitting the new stainless steel exhaust this week.

James is busy cutting out the floor from this 1965 Volkswagen Splitscreen which is in the midst of its full body restoration with us..... Chassis and top hats are in remarkably good condition but the inner sills need replacing completely on both sides.
